The Ocean City FC Girls Super Y-League 2011 Journey
Continued growth on and off the field for Ocean City FC’s second year in the Super Y-League

Ocean City FC entered an unprecedented 8 teams into the Super Y-League and Super 20 League. The Super Y-League is the highest competition for youth soccer in the USA with the National Finals being held in Tampa, Fl in December. This is a true national league where the winners can say that they are the best team in the country. Under the guidance of the United Soccer League (USL) the tournament has expanded and continued to improve the quality of opposition that Ocean City FC face on a weekly basis. Ocean City FC teams play teams from Maryland up to New York and everywhere in between. It is an exciting league, watched by many college coaches and the best players have a clear route to excellence via the Super Y-Leagues own Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Our youngest girls team were one year up in the U13 level. This was also their first year in the Super Y-League as previously to the 2011 season U13 was the youngest age group. The girls finished with a 1-1-8 record but that does not show the great strides forward taken by this group of girls. The division was one of the most competitive in the Super Y-League set up with the National Champions expected to come out of this area. The girls never gave up, worked hard and saw the improvement as their points came towards the end of the season and no big defeats. Every game was tight and but for a few bounces of the ball the record could have been much improved. This gives the team great hope for their second season in the Super Y-League next year. By keeping the core of the team together and adding some extra quality might just be the difference to push the girls up the table.

Overall, Ocean City FC have had a promising 2011. The club has grown in numbers and quality throughout the age groups and the coaching staff. 2012 promises to be a great season for Ocean City FC, after seeing the potential of many first year Super Y-League teams, the whole coaching staff are excited to get next summer underway already!!
