After being founded in 1996, the club debuted in the 1997 season, it was named the South Jersey Barons. They joined the United Soccer Leagues (USL) as a professional team, competing in the Second Division (two levels down from MLS), which at the time was called the D-3 Pro League.
The club has come a long way in such a short time to become one of the most recognised and respected PDL teams in the country. The Ocean City Nor’easters are proud of their history from the US Open Cup runs to developing future MLS stars, first round draft picks and a US Men’s National Team player.
