Recently the coaches from Ocean City FC visited both Davenport Primary school and Slaybaugh Primary school to deliver fun sessions to a number of classes. Our aim was to inform the school kids about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and undertaking exercise whilst having fun. The coaches enjoyed both days and were very impressed with talent on show from the children. At the end of each session there was also an opportunity for the kids to ask the coaches questions about their own experiences in soccer.
Amy Ruff, PE teacher for Davenport Primary School and Slaybaugh Primary School, said “ The first grade students at the Davenport Primary School and Slaybaugh Primary School in Egg Harbor Township were privileged to have five coaches from the Ocean City Football Club & Nor’Easters Soccer Team visit our schools on March 29, 2010. The coaches spoke to the gym classes about the importance of doing well in school, demonstrated soccer skills and ran a mini-clinic with the students.
This community service is provided free for the students and they love it! it is a chance for each student to be introduced to the game of soccer and also to play some awesome games.
It is a very beneficial program for the teachers and students of Egg Harbor Township and we are so grateful to the Ocean City Football Club Organization and coaches for affording us this wonderful opportunity. The students cannot wait until the coaches are able to visit us again! Thank You!”
