About the Super Y-League

Ocean City FC a proud member of the Super Y-League (SYL) has secured a membership agreement with the United Soccer Leagues (USL) through the 2010 season. It is the only USL member in Southern New Jersey with SYL status.

What is the Super Y-League?

The Super Y-League is a professionalized system that is the first step for developing youth soccer players in North America. Affiliated with US Soccer, the league is designed for talented youth players destined for collegiate, professional and international careers. Ocean City FC SYL teams will benefit from the same commitment to excellence that will be infused on the Super-20 and Premier Development League (PDL) teams. It is an essential component to a youth player’s progress to the next level.

Which clubs compete in the Super Y-League?

The 2010 SYL campaign is anticipated to feature over 600 teams between the Under-13 and Under-17 boys and girls age groups, competing within eight geographic divisions of the United States and Canada. Ocean City FC will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division playing against the likes of Princeton Soccer, Super Nova, Real Maryland FC, Washington Freedom, Match Fit Chelsea, DC United, Brooklyn Knights, Long Island Rough Riders, Quickstrike, Parsippany, Ironbound, NJ Stallions and PSG Spartans to name a few.

Regular Season Dates:

The regular season will be from May through August. The club will avoid most major events such as State Cup, MAPS/JAGS league play, South Jersey Leagues, and major tournament weekends. The Super Y-League North American Finals will be held in November in Tampa, Fla.

What if they have a conflict with their club team?

Ocean City FC’s Super Y-League teams are not meant to compete with your regular club teams, but rather be a complement to them. In the case of a conflict, the player will be encouraged to go to their respective club’s activity, however, the final decision lies with the player and their parent.

Is there Super Y-League ODP?

The Super Y-League ODP Philosophy is to identify players for US National Team Programs, within their natural environment during competition on their team during the Super Y-League season. All SYL coaches participate in recommending players for the SYL ODP program.

What are the Benefits of Participating in the Super Y-League ODP system?

1. Exposure to US National Staff and Team Coaches.
2. Exposure to professional and collegiate scouts
3. No cost to be scouted. The scouting system is built into league play and contains no ODP fees, other than those selected to the ODP Select Camps in January and February

Fees

SYL player fees cover, administrative and operational costs, player registration, insurance, fields, uniforms, OCFC administrative support and coaches. FEES DO NOT INCLUDE PLAYER TRAVEL EXPENSES.
