Nor'easters To Take On NJ Rangers
Ocean City Need To Push On To Make Playoffs A Certainty

The Ocean City Nor’easters are looking to extend their winning streak to 7 games as they start the weekend home double header against the New Jersey Rangers at Carey Stadium on Friday 6 June.

The New Jersey Rangers franchise began in 2008 and it was the Ocean City Nor’easters who handed the Rangers their first defeat, an 8-1 thumping including a hat-trick from the latest Nor’easters in the Pros, Steven Miller (formerly of Montreal Impact, now with Michigan Bucks). The Nor’easters have a 7-1-1 record against Rangers with a goal difference of 28-8. The 2009 Nor’easters victory over the Rangers clinched the playoff berth before going onto the PDL Quarter Finals finally losing to Chicago Fire U23s. The Ocean City Nor’easters are hoping to continue their dominance over the Denville, NJ natives as they push for the post-season.

The two teams have met once already this season and that saw a 5-0 win for the Nor’easters away in Denville, NJ. The game back on May 30th saw a Zoncher Dennis hat trick and two goals for Frank Tweneboa as well as an unlikely assist for goalkeeper John McCarthy. This game promises to be a tougher challenge as the Rangers have recovered from the tough start and are in 4th position harboring hopes of playoff places themselves.

Coach Oswald puts his thoughts forward, "NJ Rangers have been on a roll and crept up the table. They are still in playoff contention and surely will come to the Beach House looking to prove they are better than the team we beat 5-0 early in the season. I am sure they have tweakes some things and they have added some quality players to the roster since mid-season."

He continued by adding "I expect this match to be much tighter and closer, but in order to be a playoff team, these are the games we must win."

The Nor’easters kick off the double header on Friday July 6 at 7pm at Carey Stadium followed by an exciting showdown against Westchester Flames that could see Ocean City clinch their playoff berth.
