Barons GK named to PDL Team of the Week

Tunde Ogunbiyi's pair of road shutouts over the weekend earn him the honor

Ocean City Barons goalkeeper Tunde Ogunbiyi (Boston College / Gwynedd, PA)was named to the Premier Development League Team of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 24. The Nigerian youth international, who has yet to allow a goal in three matches in 2009, continued his shutout streak with clean sheets on the road at the New Hampshire Phantoms last Friday and at the Rhode Island Stingrays on Saturday.

Head Coach Neil Holloway told USLSoccer.com, "Tunde was a major factor in our qualifying for the Open Cup, making some tremendous saves in our wins over the weekend. After three straight clean sheets, its hard to ask for much more from your goalkeeper."

Ogunbiyi, who missed over half of the 2008 season because he was called up to the Nigerian Olympic team, was chosen as the top goalkeeper of the week out of the 67 PDL across North America. He is the first Barons goalkeeper named to the Team of the Week since the club moved to Ocean City in 2005.
