2015 PDL Schedule Announced

Nor'easters Prepare For Their 19th Season

Thursday, February 12th

Ocean City, NJ - The stage is set for the Ocean City Nor'easters' 19th season as the Premier Development League has released the 2015 schedule. The Nor'easters will again compete in the highly competitive Mid-Atlantic Division, which they have won twice in the last three seasons (2012 & 2013). Playing 14 league matches between May and July, this season, Ocean City will play host to seven matches, starting on June 20th with a showdown against New York in their PDL debut.

The home opener versus New York comes after the Nor'easters complete a seven game road trip. Ocean City has an impressive record at Carey Stadium, compiling a 66-22-20 record since moving to "The Beach House" in 2005.

Head Coach Tim Oswald leads the Storm into his 4th season at the helm, beginning with a road trip to Evergreen Sports Complex in Leesburg, VA to take on the Northern Virginia Royals on Saturday, May 23rd. Ocean City holds a strong advantage with a 5-0-1 record over the Royals.  The Nor'easters will then head to New York to face the debut club on Wednesday, May 27th. We caught up with Coach Oswald to get his thoughts on the upcoming season.

After two fantastic years in 2012 and 2013 where we won the division and advanced to the PDL Sweet 16 and Final Four, we didn't accomplish our intended goals in 2014, said Coach Oswald, a resident of West Deptford. We took a step back to examine what we could enhance over the winter and we are as hungry as ever to bounce back.  As much as we are honored to be among the top five in total points among PDL clubs over the past three seasons, we know that each season is a new one and we have to put our best foot forward to be consistent in our quest for excellence.

The road trip continues as Ocean City faces it longest standing rival, Reading United AC, for their home opener on Saturday, May 30th. The Ocean City - Reading rivalry dates back to 1997, when both clubs competed in the USISL D3 Pro League, Ocean City as the "South Jersey Barons" and Reading as the "Rage".

Following a road game against the Bohemians in Baltimore, Maryland on June 6th , the Nor'easters face another debut club, Lehigh Valley United Sonic on June 10th. Lehigh Valley will join the league after a very successful spell in the National Premier Soccer League, where they won the league championship in 2012. On June 13th, Ocean City heads up to face Westchester Flames, who return to the Mid-Atlantic division after one season competing in the Northeast division. The Nor'easters wrap up their seven game road trip when they head to Long Island to face the Rough Riders on June 17th before heading back to the shore for seven straight home matches.

After Ocean City opens its home campaign at Carey Stadium on June 20th vs New York, the Nor'easters prepare to avenge consecutive home loses against the Baltimore Bohemians. Baltimore scored in the dying moments two seasons ago to deny the Nor'easters a 12th victory and the best overall record in the PDL. Kicking off the holiday weekend, Reading United head to the shore on July 3rd and sparks are sure to fly in the 40th meeting between these two Mid-Atlantic rivals. The Nor'easters wrap up the holiday weekend by welcoming Lehigh Valley United Sonic for their first trip to "The Beach House".

The following weekend the Nor'easters, in conjunction with GPS New Jersey, will play host to Ocean City, New Jersey's annual 11v11 tournament, the Shore Shootout. Welcoming teams from U8 to U18, the Shore Shootout provides a true family vacation experience while providing the highest level of youth soccer only steps away from the beaches of America's Greatest Family Resort. While the youth action takes place during the day, it will heat up each night as the Nor'easters host FA Euro of Brooklyn, July 11th and Northern Virginia Royals on July 12th.

Ocean City Nor'easters wrap up the 2015 regular season taking on the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Division Champions, Jersey Express, on July 19th. The Express hold the advantage with a 4-2-2 record at Carey Stadium since they joined the league in 2008.

The Mid-Atlantic Division is one of the toughest in the country, said Coach Oswald. With so much top talent from top to bottom the Mid-Atlantic Division is a true hot bed for MLS prospects, every game is tight and every contest is just as important as the last. It will be important with seven straight away games to start this season to earn points on the road and put ourselves in the best possible spot position to close out the year at home in our final seven games.
