Chevaughn Walsh, Nathan Regis of Nor'easters named to PDL All-Conference team

Ocean City has multiple All-Conference selections for first time since 2005

Chevaughn Walsh, the PDL's leading goalscorer, and Nathan Regis, who finished tied for the league lead with nine assists (according to Ocean City Nor'easters records), were both honored by the league.

For the first time since the 2005 season, the Ocean City Nor'easters have multiple players who have been named to the Premier Development League (PDL) All-Eastern Conference Team. Chevaughn Walsh (Jefferson College / Spanish Town, Jamaica), the PDL's leading goalscorer, and Nathan Regis (Pfeiffer University / Arima, Trinidad & Tobago), who finished tied for the league lead with nine assists (according to Ocean City Nor'easters records), were both honored by the league.

The All-Conference teams are based on the PDL regular season and voting by teams within each conference.

Walsh finished the regular season as the league's leading scorer with 14 goals and three assists. The Jamaican did most of his damage when it mattered most: down the stretch. Walsh scored 10 goals and dished out two assists during the final seven games of the campaign. The Nor'easters won five of those matches, including a 3-2 defeat of the Baltimore Bohemians on the final day to clinch a spot in the postseason. Walsh broke the Ocean City single-season record for most goals (and tied the record for points) and became the first player in club history to lead the league in goals. Walsh also finished the season as one of three players who played in every game, falling two minutes short of the team lead in minutes played (1,182).

Regis, the reigning NCAA Division II Player of the Year, carried his impressive form from the college season at Pfeiffer University over to the 2016 PDL season. Regis finished second on the team in scoring with six goals and nine assists (21 points) in just 12 games played. Those nine assists tied the Ocean City single-season record and of those, seven of them went to Walsh.

Like Walsh, Regis, who was an All-PDL selection last year with the Charlotte Eagles, also did some of his best work down the stretch. In fact, all 21 of his points came during the final eight games of the season (team was 6-2-0). Five of the final eight contests were multi-point games for Regis, who scored ended the season by scoring what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the season finale in the playoff-clinching win over Baltimore.

This is just the third time in club history that the Nor'easters have placed multiple players on the All-Conference team. The last time it occurred was in 2005 when Tony Donatelli, Ruben Mingo, John Thompson and goalkeeper Ryan Carr all were All-Conference selections (Thompson was an all-PDL selection). The first time was the previous year when the club finished its historic undefeated 2004 season with four players making the All-Conference team: Mingo (All-PDL, PDL MVP), Thompson (All-PDL, PDL Defender of the Year), Neil Holloway (All-PDL), and Chris Williams. That year, head coach Dan Christian took home the 2004 PDL Coach of the Year.
