Barons defender Tyler Bellamy was sent off in the 38th minute after pulling Knights’ midfielder Tarik Smith down from behind in the penalty area. Jeff Matteo converted the penalty kick, for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Five minutes later, the Knights returned the favor, clipping Brad Franks just inside the right side of the box, giving Ocean City a spot kick of their own. Defender John Fletcher would tie the game with his second goal of the season.

With one less teammate in front of him, Tunde Ogunbiyi held the Knights off the scoresheet for the rest of the first half and throughout the second, making three saves in the process.

"Even though we were playing with ten men, I think we managed pretty well," said Barons defender Mackenson Altidore, who came on as a sub at halftime. "Tunde was great, he really made some key saves tonight."

The Barons had several chances to win the game, but the ball didn’t bounce their way on what was a beautiful night on the boardwalk.

In an unfortunate accident, Barons defender Connor Gorman got his feet tangled with a Brooklyn player away from the ball, and took an awkward fall and had to be taken to a nearby hospital. While the severity of the injury is not yet known, the 17-year old defender, who played one of his best games of the season, is expected to miss some time.

Regardless of the missed chances and the injury, head coach Mike Pellegrino was pleased with the result.

"It was a great team performance tonight," he said after the match. "Being down a man against a team like Brooklyn and coming away with a point, I thought we did really well."

The Barons remain unbeaten on the season, and four points behind first place Brooklyn in the Northeast Division. They do have a game in hand over their division rivals from the Big Apple.

The Knights are still winless against the Barons at Carey Stadium and haven’t beaten them at any venue since 2003. The Men In Red lead the all-time series 6-1-2.

Byron Carmichael continued to move up the Barons all-time charts. With his 70 minutes played on Saturday, he moves into third place on the Barons' minutes played list with 4,547. He now only trails John Thompson and Ryan Heins.

Next up, Ocean City travels north to take on the expansion New Jersey Rangers next Friday night. It will be the second meeting between the two in-state clubs, with the Braons winning the first game 8-1 back on May 14.
