The Ocean City Barons are close to finalizing their 2009 roster after holding a very succesfull open tryout at the Rutgers-Camden University on Saturday March 7th. The open tryouts attracted 60 prospective players from the Tri-State area, who displayed a very good level of talent for the coaching staff to evaluate. The Barons staff were pleased with the calibure of players who attended the tryouts. "This has been the best turnout of talent to our open tryouts in the four years I have been involved with the coaching side of our PDL team" said Barons Coach John Thompson, "We are now ahead of the curve with regards to finalizing our roster, which, when you include our U20 players will have alot of strength in depth."

The Ocean City Barons be announcing signings over the next two months as they begin their preperation for the first home game on May 9th, 2009 at home against the Westchester Flames. The first four games will also double up as US Open Cup Qualifying games, the Barons have been drawn against Westchester, Long Island Rough Riders, New Hampshire Phantoms and the Rhode Island Stingrays.
