Ocean City FC will begin their new era with tryouts for their Super Y-League and Super-20 teams. The tryouts are open to elite players from all clubs, and will begin February 7 at the Euro Sports Center in Egg Harbor, NJ. The Super Y-League is one of the premier youth development systems in North America and is the first step for helping elite soccer players take their game to the next level. Ocean City FC is proud to be the only Super Y-League club in South Jersey and will be welcoming boys and girls from the Under-11 through the Under-18 level.

Unlike in years past, Ocean City’s Super Y-League teams will be open to players of every youth club. This changed when the club recently severed ties with the South Jersey Barons youth academy. The staff at Ocean City FC are excited about the potential of the club’s new structure.

“We don’t want to compete with existing club teams, but rather be a complement to them,” said Ocean City FC General Manager Neil Holloway. “As with our professional coaching services, we want to work with all clubs, organizations and townships to identify the elite players and provide them with an opportunity that has not been afforded to them until now.

“The Super Y-League has it own carding system and games are scheduled mostly during the summer months, so players can play on their local team in the South Jersey soccer leagues like MAPS or JAGS without conflict”.

For the last 13 years, Ocean City FC has received a tremendous amount of attention for its professionalism and player development, not just locally, but nationally.

"Under the leadership of [General Manager] Neil Holloway and [Team President] John Granese, Ocean City has been one of the national leaders in player development at both the PDL and Super Y-League levels," said Tim Holt, the President of the United Soccer Leagues. "Having taken full control of its development teams for 2010 and serving as South Jersey’s only Super Y-League program, it is certain that there will be increased opportunities for the area’s elite youth players to compete with the exclusive Super-20 and PDL teams. With the creation of more direct pathways to both its PDL team and European soccer via Ocean City’s partnership with Reading FC, the region’s most ambitious players will no doubt continue to strive to be a part of its most professionally managed club."

Reading FC continues to play a role with the Ocean City organization. The English Championship club will be providing the jerseys for all Super Y-League teams as well as the club’s PDL side.

"Reading Football Club is proud of the relationships it has formed overseas and we are willing to help as much as possible," said Nigel Howe, Reading FC’s chief executive.

The Euro Sports Center is located at 1524 Grant Street in Egg Harbor, NJ. See below for the tryout schedule. All players should arrive 20 minutes before the start time for registration. There is a $10.00 facility fee for each player trying out.
