The Ocean City Nor’easters have recruited the top talent in the area and the awards are just a glimpse at the abilities these young players have. We have been honored by these three standout players from Lafayette College have joined us for the summer.
The Lafayette Leopards stars joining the Nor’easters are defender Julian Plummer and midfielders Alec Golini and Blake Fink.
Leopards defender Julian Plummer had an outstanding freshman year picking up a Second Team All-Patriot League selection and the only Freshman to do so, Puma Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team, Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and two-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Coach Oswald explains why he is so gifted “Julian is a freak of an athlete....pace, size, speed...you name it. Going into the Patriot league as a freshman and having the success that he had on the field for the Leopards can be quite the imposing challenge, but he took it in stride and excelled.”
Alec Golini was a NSCAA All-American in 2009 at High School and moved into college with ease getting a Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status. Coach Oswald informs us that “Alec is fast, crafty, and creative in the midfield and attacking 3rd. We believe that after missing his 1st season at Lafayette due to injury, he is finally coming into his own.”
Midfielder Blake Fink is consistently showered with awards and team selections and they are justified by his play on the field. For example, to show but a few, he was 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-East, 2008 NSCAA High School All-American, 2011 Capital One Academic All-District, 2011 Academic All-Patriot League and 3 times Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. “I (Coach Oswald) have coached and worked with Blake for years. He is a very solid and sound player on and off the ball. He will add necessary depth to our team in the MFD position, but also can be featured on other areas of the pitch. He comes from a HS program that breeds success and a college program that is impeccable with it’s tactical approaches to the game with an emphasis on a "worker" mentality.”
This crop of talent is a great addition to the Nor’easters roster for the upcoming season.
