Ocean City look to keep pace in Mid-Atlantic Division, extend unbeaten streak vs. Evergreen FC

The Ocean City Nor'easters won their home opener against the Long Island Rough Riders last weekend and the club will head back out on the road for the first of three straight road games in the Premier Development League (PDL). On Saturday, the Nor'easters will travel to Leesburg, Va. to take on Evergreen FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Nor'easters enter the weekend 2-2-0 in league play and are sitting in fourth place in the Mid-Atlantic Division. However, they have played two fewer games than the second place New York Red Bulls U-23s and first place Long Island Rough Riders.

In all competitions (including the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup), Deri Corfe leads Ocean City in scoring with a goal and four assists. His four helpers currently lead the US Open Cup in that department. Last year's leading scorer Fredlin "Fredinho" Mompremier and newcomers, Simone Raioli, and Kyle Gurrieri lead the team in goals with two each.

Evergreen FC is a Northern Virginia-based team run by former Northern Virginia Royals owner Mo Sheta, who re-branded the club before the 2016 season from the DC United Under-23s. Last year, Ocean City swept all three games against Evergreen (2 home, 1 away), but it wasn't easy. After a 4-1 season opening win at home where Ignacio Tellechea scored an amazing goal that would eventually win the PDL Goal of the Month (WATCH BELOW), the Nor'easters found themselves trailing 2-0 with five minutes left in regulation of the second game. Ocean City scored three goals in those final five minutes to stun the Hammers. The Nor'easters won the final game of the series on the road to complete the season sweep and improve to 11-0-1 all-time against Evergreen.

This year, Evergreen has had a difficult start to the 2018 season as they sit in sixth place in the division with a 0-4-1 record. In their last game, they lost to the Long Island Rough Riders, 5-1. Samuel Mozart Edoung-Biyo scored the lone goal for the Hammers and leads the team with two on the season.
