Heins, Maher and Williams to take part in USL combine
Ryan Heins (Medford, NJ - Temple Univ.)
Heins, a 6’2 attacking player from Medford, NJ, recently completed his senior season at Temple University where he was a four-year starter . He finished with seven goals and 11 assists in his career with the Cherry and White, earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors this past Fall. This past summer, Heins was a key contributor for the Barons, leading the club in assists with six.
Barons manager Neil Holloway’s scouting report: "I don’t think I’ve ever had a player with an engine like Ryan has. He can run all day and never gets tired. He was one of our top players from this past summer. He has great feet and can strike the ball extremely well. I think he will do very well at the combine."
Matt Maher (Cape May, NJ - Temple Univ.)
Barons manager Neil Holloway’s scouting report: "Matt has been an integral part of the Barons for years. As a youth player, he was a leading striker, however, over the past few years, he has been converted to a defender." Matt could follow in his brother’s footsteps and go on and make a career for himself playing in the USL First or Second division. Matt is strong as an ox, and very determined. He is the type of player you want on your side, even in training."
Williams finished his college career in 2005, attending Philadelphia University where he was named to the Philadelphia Soccer Seven All Star team twice.
Chris Williams (Philadelphia, PA - Philadelphia Univ.)
Barons manager Neil Holloway’s scouting report: "Chris has been one of the PDL’s leading defenders for the past three years. "He is a man-mountain at the back and has surprisingly great pace. For such a big defender, Chris also has great touch and good feet, so much so that we used him as a central midfielder at times. Chris can play at the next level and I’m quite surprised that no one has picked him up thus far. A First Division club would do well to take a chance on Chris and snap him up."
